Developed in Australia in the 1950's, and named
after Mr Tom Bowen its originator, this is a very gentle
and relaxing hands-on therapy, in which the practitioner makes a
series of 'moves' over the muscles and tissues of the patient, using
only the fingers and thumbs. There is no need to remove light clothing,
and a treatment lasts about 45 minutes.
Bowen creates balance in the body by releasing 'energy
blockages'. It is particularly effective at relieving musculo-skeletal
pains, but may also help people with a very wide range of conditions.
Anyone can benefit from a Bowen treatment - from
babies to sportspeople; and even those with degenerative conditions.
